Dune
Dune is the story of a young man on a foreign planet who uses his ability to see through time to bring the native people to his side. This illustration shows Paul peering into time with the dull reds and browns of the desert with a pop of the blue-in-blue eyes. The lettering is broken and obscured from the shapes of the dunes and sandstorm.
The Road
The Road tells of a father and son making their way across the ruins of America years after an apocalyptic event. This cover depicts them walking side by side with only their bootprints in the thick layer of ash that blankets the desolate world.
The Hobbit
The Hobbit tells the story of Bilbo, a person of very small stature on quest to steal a precious stone from a great dragon, Smaug. This cover contrasts the size of Bilbo with Smaug, who is buried in his gold hoard save for the great eye. The image was made with pen and colored digitally.
1984
1984 tells the story of an authoritarian state that uses censorship
and propaganda to control its people. This cover uses the imagery of censorship to reveal its information. The images were physically printed
and blotted out to give it a realistic texture.
